♦Meets
Criteria. Listed
candidates have returned 100% pro-life surveys and have also been
personally interviewed by members of TRL-PAC. Each meets criteria
as a pro-life candidate and members of Tennessee Right to Life may be confident in voting for any one of
them.

About
the Endorsement List
All positions listed in
this guide result from candidate surveys and interviews conducted by the Tennessee Right to Life Political Action
Committee (TRL PAC). In the case of
incumbents, we have closely reviewed their voting records on pro-life
issues as well.
The TRL PAC endorses
candidates without regard for their political party affiliation, thus
endorsing both pro-life Democrats, Independents
and Republicans who have demonstrated their commitment to defending the
basic Right
to Life.
We have reserved our
endorsement for either incumbent legislators who have been steadfast in
their pro-life position including opposition to abortion, assisted suicide
and euthanasia, or those candidates who we are absolutely convinced will
not only vote pro-life, but also use their position to b e a leader on our
issues.
In 2006,
noting the importance of defeating current pro-abortion leadership in the
state House, TRL has endorsed only
those candidates willing to vote against a pro-abortion House speaker and
speaker Pro-Tem. Without pro-life
leadership, protective legislation passed in the state Senate is routinely
killed in the state House.
